THE BIBLE IN 90 DAYS…!?!?
3.5 pages of The Wall Street Journal…4 pages of USA Today…10 pages of The Grand Rapids Press. In the amount of time it takes you to read these things, you could read 12 pages of the Bible. In 90 days, you can read it from cover to cover! Have you ever thought about reading the whole Bible but have just been overwhelmed, or intimidated? Or maybe you started but became discouraged. You’re not alone. Reading the Bible through can be a challenge, but it’s a challenge worth undertaking. This summer you are invited to embark on a special journey, one that will surely change your life. It will start on the first page of the Bible and end on the last. You’ll read 12 pages a day and finish in 90 days. You won’t go it alone. Others will join you on the journey. Some from the CHT community will gather with them once a week to ask questions, share insights, and discuss the big picture themes that emerge from the details of your readings…
WHEN: We will undertake this journey beginning Sunday June 15th. Special Bibles have been ordered and have arrived at the church office. The 90 day Bible and the study companion are available together for $25. If the cost is prohibitive, speak to Scott Jones and financial assistance can be made available. We will gather after the 11am service this Sunday the 15th to chat for a few moments about this journey we’ll undertake together. You can also purchase the 90 day Bible at this time and get started!
WHERE: The great news is you can read anytime, anywhere. But there will also be group discussions at CHT. Scott Jones will facilitate these groups. He’ll lead one on Wednesday evenings after evening prayer. He’ll also lead online discussion groups using UStream (www.ustream.tv) if you can’t make the Wednesday groups. Simply go http://www.ustream.tv/channel/cht%27s-bible-in-90-days on Thursdays at 7pm or Sundays at 5pm. This site will direct you to a live video stream where you can participate in an online discussion of the readings. You don’t have to attend the groups discussions to do the program, but they will enhance your experience. Scott will also BLOG (an online journal) daily about the readings, and you can post your own comments and ideas. You’ll teach and encourage others, and they’ll teach and encourage you.
WHO: You of course! And it would be great to find a partner who will commit to doing this with you. You could even form your own discussion group over coffee during the week.
WHY: Reading through the Bible at a regular pace cover to cover will gives you an entirely new perspective on God’s cosmic plan to redeem the word. You’ll be immersed in the greatest drama of all time, and by God’s grace you’ll better understand your part in God’s story. It will be a life-changing experience!
