Thank you to everyone who was present on May 6th for our Presence Sunday. We had almost 200 people at our three services that day and over 50 people filled out pledge cards promising to focus on being present for God and allowing God to be present for them in the coming year. Thank you all!"

It is both a joy and an indictment that so many Christians attend church on Easter and/or Christmas and otherwise seldom are in attendance. It is a joy, of course, because it is always joyous to see sisters and brothers recognize their relationship to Jesus Christ and his community and to worship together. It is an indictment in that we often feel or believe that Sunday worship is an obligation or duty or guarantor of salvation.
Worship is at the very heart of the life of any Christian community, and the Church of the Holy Trinity is no exception. Worship is our opportunity to gather together to be fed by Word and Sacraments. It is our family meal, at which we grow in our relationships with one another and with God. It is the time when we are strengthened and empowered to go out and serve in the world.
Through focusing on Presence, we seek to encourage all members and friends of CHT to increase their commitment to being present in church — both for worship and for times of fellowship — and also to consider whether they are being called to invite others to come to church with them.
Scripture (Hebrews 10:24-25) Let us consider how to provoke one another to love and good deeds, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the day approaching. Sermon “Presence – I”04-22-12
