If you can’t feed a hundred people, then just feed one.

Jesus spent over 15% of his teaching on money and possessions.
It has been said that Jesus talked more about this topic than any other one topic. So when we “get real” with our spiritual lives and discipleship, we must “get real” with our money. We must consider not only what we give but also the priorities of our spending that may constrict our ability to aspire to generosity.

In addition to “O Little Town of Bethlehem” one of the most beloved of Christmas songs is “The Little Drummer Boy”, written by Katherine K. Davis, Henry Onorati, and Harry Simeone in 1958. Some of the most moving lines of the carol include these:

I am a poor boy too . . . I have no gift to bring . . . That’s fit to give the King.
I played my drum for Him . . . I played my best for Him . . .
Then He smiled at me . . . Me and my drum.

Mercifully, not all of us are drummers. Truth be told, none of us are so poor that we cannot make a financial commitment with and for our sisters and brothers at the Church of the Holy Trinity. Most certainly even a small amount pledged as a response of faith and love for Jesus will bring him joy. Like the drummer boy, we give according to our best ability.

Scripture (Matthew 19:20-21) The young man said to Jesus, ‘I have kept all these; what do I still lack?’ Jesus said to him, ‘If you wish to be perfect, go, sell your possessions, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me.’

FAQ’s About Financial Pledging

What is a Finance Pledge?
A Finance Pledge is a promise of financial commitment to support the work and ministry of The Church of the Holy Trinity. The Pledge is indicated in writing. It has no legal standing and may be altered at any time if personal circumstances change.

Why do I need to make a Finance Pledge?
I need to pledge to allow orderly financial planning of the church and to indicate my willing commitment to the faith community at CHT. This has always been seen as part of the spiritual life.

How can I make a Finance Pledge?
I can make a Finance Pledge online or by completing a Finance Pledge Card addressed to the Parish Office.
The Finance Pledge may be paid any time during the year. Dated envelopes are provided to make regular giving easier. You may also choose to have your credit card charged on a regular basis.

How much do I pledge?
The Christian community has taught for years that the giving of one tenth (tithe) is Biblical teaching.
For most of us, 10% may seem like an impossible goal. Because of this, many Christians begin by pledging a percentage of, say, 2% or more with a commitment to try to increase that year by year.
